In one of his manic moments, the vice president of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, suggested the EU breaks down walls and builds up bridges. We all know how that worked out…
But by adding pictures of the destruction of the Berlin wall, Timmermans even suggested the EU had a very important influence on that.
Fortunately a Polish man, called Atone Wolny on Twitter, saw the EU commissioner’s tweet and replied brilliantly:

It was Poland and the rest of the countries under Russian totalitarianism that overthrew the Berlin Wall. This was not done by Brussels officials in secure armchairs in front of the TV.
